Day 1 of 7
In the secret place
“But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”
Have you ever prayed with one eye on who was listening? Jesus saw people who prayed loudly on street corners to be admired. He said they already had their reward: the applause.
Then he told his followers to go into an inner room, shut the door, and pray to the Father who sees in secret. God doesn’t need a crowd, or long speeches, or perfect words. “Your Father knows what things you need, before you ask him.” Prayer isn’t a performance. It is a child talking to a Father who is already listening.
Where and when could you find a quiet place to pray this week?
Answer in your journalPrayFather, here I am, just me. Teach me to pray to you, not to be seen.
